Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Syndication Specialist to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Global Fixed Income Origination team, you will be responsible for supporting the senior Syndicate function in London in all aspects of pre and post new issue transaction execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Responsible for daily/weekly market commentary.
  • Build and maintain excel-based databases and related material (e.g., pricing sheets).
  • Be able to execute new issue transactions without assistance.
  • Compile market-related research, company, and industry reports, graphs, and other analysis.
  • Create marketing presentations (internal and external).
  • Liaise with various cross-functional groups across GBM and Scotiabank.
  • Complete economic trends/event analysis.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
  • Contribute to a high-performance environment and foster an inclusive work environment; supporting the vision/values/business strategy for the team.
Dimensions
  • Coordination with other GBM and Scotiabank departments for cooperation in cross-sell to clients.
  • Accountability to liaise with senior staff for client coverage.
  • A working product knowledge, macro developments in the marketplace including: interest rate futures, IRS, CCIRS, and ILS.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment and the impact of such on the business, industry, and individual.
  • Effective communication skills to effectively direct people, converse globally with peers across platforms and divisions.
Requirements
  • University Degree.
  • Excellent numeric literacy.
  • High personal and professional standards.
  • A strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork.
  • Display a high level of energy and desire to learn new concepts.
  • Prior experience in Syndication role, preferably accompanied by a Financial Institution skillset.
  • Solid technical knowledge of a variety of software applications (programming skills an asset).
  • Strong attention to detail.
