Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Asset Condition and Engineering Manager to join our team at SSE PLC. As a key member of our Transmission Asset Management team, you will be responsible for assessing and predicting the performance, integrity, and condition of our Transmission assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Asset Condition Information and Reporting: Provide accurate and timely asset condition information and reports to support the continuous development of our Transmission Asset Management Systems.
- Engineering Consultant Coordination: Manage and coordinate the utilization of engineering consultants and specialized service providers to support asset-related research, studies, assessments, and investigations.
- Information Systems Improvement: Identify gaps in our current information systems associated with fixed assets and circuits, and drive improvements to ensure efficient management of Transmission assets.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of up to 20 specialized engineering staff, guiding and developing their skills to ensure the successful delivery of our Transmission Asset Management objectives.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Management: Promote safe working practices and reduce health, safety, and environmental risk within the team and the wider SSE Transmission business.
Requirements:
- Education and Qualifications: Degree-qualified or time-served in an engineering area, supplemented by Asset Management qualifications to diploma level.
- Experience and Skills: Good Asset Management experience gained from time served in infrastructure organizations, paired with people management skills and experience of leading and motivating medium-sized teams, projects, and programs within Asset Management.
- Business and Technical Knowledge: Sound business and technical knowledge of electricity Transmission or similar market sectors, with experience of developing and managing business plans and financial targets.
- Stakeholder and Customer Awareness: Awareness of key stakeholders and customers for electricity Transmission and experience of successfully meeting customer/stakeholder needs, with the ability to network internally and externally to represent the interests of SSE Transmission.
