Conveyor Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Conveyor Design Engineer to join our team at a specialist Mechanical Machinery Manufacturer in Carlisle. As a key member of our conveyor team, you will be responsible for taking approved can line layouts from concept to installation.

The company has full manufacturing capabilities at their site in Carlisle, allowing them to make what they design from mass production repeatable sections to custom one-off design solutions. They also work with existing can plants to upgrade production lines, requiring some travelling to existing sites around the world.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Investigate and undertake analysis to improve existing projects.
  2. Summarise engineering calculations in an easy-to-understand manner.
  3. Create technical reports to summarise stages, from concepts to final commissioning.
  4. Cover the concept, specification, tender, and development of new projects.
  5. Use 3D and 2D CAD systems to design and visualise projects.
  6. Identify new systems and processes to drive quality, efficiency, and cost savings.
  7. Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and contractors involved in a project.
  8. Plan effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time, to standard, and to budget.
Requirements:
  1. Minimum of Higher National Certificate (HNC) in engineering.
  2. A BA or BSC degree is preferred.
  3. Well-practiced in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.).
  4. Willingness to learn new CAD and other IT software when required.
  5. Minimum of 10 years relative work experience.
  6. Machinery Design background.
  7. Sheet Metal and Fabrication knowledge.
  8. A good track record of engineering, from 3D modelling to detailed 2D fabrication drawings.
What We Offer:
  1. Full-time Intermediate level role.
  2. 3-month probation period.
  3. Any travelling will be fully covered.
  4. Office based in Carlisle office, 0800 to 1700 daily Monday to Friday.
  5. Flexible working possible once probation period complete.
  6. Company laptop and mobile will be provided for all work-related activities.
