Job Summary:
As a key member of the VBU Management team, this role requires a proactive and positive attitude with the credibility to interact with senior staff and influence decisions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of all financial information and reporting, as well as providing analysis and meaningful business information to facilitate the achievement of financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning and Analysis:
• Develop and deliver financial plans as agreed upon by management
• Oversee and review VBU quarterly forecasting
• Provide pro-active and professional financial and decision support to the VBU
• Produce revenue analysis and P&L monitoring, pricing analysis and performance monitoring to aid planning and forecasting
• Oversight of financial planning and analysis including management reporting that remains relevant to support decision making
Business Development and Improvement:
• Anticipate business requirements, trends and variances
• Develop action plans to measure and analyse results
• Initiate corrective actions to minimize the impact of adverse variances
• Review business performance against forecasts and agree on corrective action with the Business Unit management teams
Leadership and Team Management:
• Lead the selection, management, development and motivation of your team
• Create an environment that motivates staff ensuring they are fully aware of what is expected of them and regularly review performance with direct reports, resolving any issues
• Uphold and enforce an environment of ethical practices
Finance and Operations:
• Ensure adherence to corporate finance policies & Company approval matrix
• Working capital management
• Work closely with other internal teams to embed financial understanding at all levels across the VBU
• Produce and provide ad hoc finance related reports and projects to the VBU, Group CFO and corporate as required
• Perform any other reasonable duties as required by Management
Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
- Qualified to degree level with an accounting qualification (ACA, ACMA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills, comfortable interacting and motivating personnel at all levels of the organisation
- Ability to influence the decisions of senior business leaders through effective verbal and written communication, logical reasoning, and the presentation of alternatives
- Solid business judgment capable of driving an organisation to the right results with a focused, pragmatic approach
- Ability to work under pressure to tight timescales
- Good sense of humour, with the ability to create and maintain excellent communications between respective sites and divisions
- Self-motivated starter, able to instigate and manage change
- Sound understanding of contracting terms and conditions and the assessment of commercial risk
- Highly computer literate, with particular reference to accounting and management software and Microsoft Office products (Excel and PowerPoint especially)
