Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team at Kings College Hospital. As a key member of our neurological rehabilitation team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with complex neurological conditions.

About the Role

This is a senior-level position that offers rotational opportunities across various neurological specialisms, including community neuro rehabilitation, critical care, and stroke units. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, ensuring seamless transitions for patients from acute to community care settings.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in neurological rehabilitation, with expertise in assessing and treating patients with complex needs. You will be responsible for supervising junior staff members, conducting clinical audits, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide specialist occupational therapy input to neurological wards, critical care units, and acute services, utilizing your knowledge of motor, sensory, cognitive, perceptual deficits, psychosocial needs, and occupational performance.
  • To assess and treat patients with complex neurological impairments, prioritizing their individual needs and developing personalized treatment plans.
  • To lead and manage the performance of the team, ensuring they meet Trust standards and objectives, while promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • To communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, families, and carers, adapting your communication style to meet their individual needs.
  • To contribute to hospital-wide initiatives, such as clinical governance and quality improvement programs, to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy (Dip RCOT or BSc OT)
  • HCPC registration and membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
  • Experience working in neurological rehabilitation, with a focus on adults and children
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience in supervising junior staff members
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse situations
  • Able to prioritize and manage stress, while maintaining a flexible approach to working across various sites and services
