About the Role

The Thales Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) Trials and Training Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Flight Test Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a central role in the planning and execution of developmental flight tests for UAS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Flight Test Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive flight test plans, considering requirements, certification, airworthiness, and safety and risk management.
  • Flight Test Conduct: Brief and conduct UAS flight test sorties as part of the GCS test crew, ensuring safe and efficient execution of flight tests.
  • Flight Test Analysis: Analyze flight trial data, write Post Flight Reports, and produce Flight Test Reports at the completion of a flight trial.
  • Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and management to one or more junior FTEs, ensuring effective team performance and development.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Graduate Flight Test Engineer of a recognized Test Pilot School, or equivalent qualifications/experience as an FTE.
  • Experience: Significant flight trials experience as an FTE, including all aspects of flight test planning, conduct, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Skills: Excellent English language written and spoken communication skills, aeronautical engineering and/or aerospace graduate background, and proficiency in using modern software applications and tools.
