Commercial Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial aspects of high-profile, multi-million-pound power projects for a major energy provider.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in commercial management, with a strong background in the construction or power industry. They will be responsible for overseeing the commercial management of the project, ensuring financial performance and compliance, and developing and implementing commercial strategies to maximise profitability and minimise risk.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field, and will be able to lead, mentor, and manage a team of quantity surveyors and other commercial professionals. They will also have excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills, and will be able to provide strategic advice on contractual matters, dispute resolution, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the commercial management of a major power sector project.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximise profitability and minimise risk.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of quantity surveyors and other commercial professionals.
  • Manage contract negotiations, procurement processes, and supplier relationships.
  • Provide strategic advice on contractual matters, dispute resolution, and risk management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Extensive experience as a Commercial Manager in the construction or power industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and commercial management.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
