About the Role:

Cornwallis Elt is seeking a highly skilled Senior Fullstack Engineer to join their Regulatory Technology function, specifically in a team building out a business-critical Trade Surveillance platform. The platform is underpinned by a Hadoop-based big data ecosystem and is used directly by both the Front and Back Office to monitor trades and check for any anomalous/fraudulent activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop fullstack applications using Python microservices and a real-time React frontend, with a focus on scalability, availability, and resilience to ensure 24/7 monitoring/detection capabilities.
  • Contribute to the architecture and design of the platform, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Drive an Agile culture, with a strong focus on Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Collaborate with the team to enhance the platform, including cloud migration to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code, adhering to industry standards and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on coding experience in Enterprise/Core Python and an Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) engineering background.
  • Fullstack development experience, preferably with React frontends.
  • Experience in design/architecture, with a good fundamental understanding of up/downstream integration.
  • Prior experience working on a cloud migration project is beneficial, with GCP being the preferred cloud technology.
  • Good understanding of big data or streaming technologies, such as Hadoop or Kafka.
  • A background in financial services (Investment Banking, Investment Management, Fintech).
