Senior Legal Counsel (FX & D) Role Overview

This role offers a unique opportunity to join the Global Legal team at HSBC and take on a challenging position that requires extensive experience in derivatives legal matters.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice, guidance, and support to ensure that the legal and reputational risks faced by the area of coverage are identified, reported, and mitigated.

The Senior Legal Counsel will be the primary lead lawyer and trusted business partner to the GFX business in London, advising on all relevant contractual and potential regulatory considerations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead legal counsel for FX and Derivatives business in London, providing expert advice on contractual and regulatory matters.
  • Collaborate with Global Legal colleagues across Europe, Hong Kong, Dubai, and New York to coordinate and negotiate contracts and related transaction documentation.
  • Identify new legal, regulatory, and market developments affecting business activities and educate teams on their impact.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and related documents to mitigate legal and reputational risks.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Lawyer with extensive experience in derivatives legal matters.
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills, with demonstrated commercial and legal judgment.
  • Ability to handle diverse issues, adapt to new situations, and work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

This role is based in London with a hybrid working pattern. The estimated salary for this position is £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
