Refuse and Recycling Vehicle Operator

As a Refuse and Recycling Vehicle Operator with Hull City Council, you will be responsible for driving and maintaining a range of refuse and recycling collection vehicles. This role involves supervising, mentoring, directing, and monitoring a crew to provide a reliable and efficient refuse collection service to residents of Hull, including domestic and trade/recycling waste.

The successful candidate will ensure the completion of daily schedules, all related paperwork, and relaying information regarding unresolved problems, crew performance, changes to trade contracts, and corrective action to the Manager.

This role contributes to the Council's statutory recycling targets and departmental objectives by providing a statutory refuse service to public and trade customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and maintain refuse and recycling collection vehicles
  • Supervise and mentor a crew to ensure efficient refuse collection service
  • Ensure completion of daily schedules and related paperwork
  • Relay information regarding unresolved problems, crew performance, and changes to trade contracts
