We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Development Specialist to join our team at Leonardo SpA in Edinburgh, UK. This is a permanent opportunity with a competitive salary.

About the Role:

This role will involve working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop advanced electronics for cutting-edge projects such as the DragonFire system, a state-of-the-art Laser Directed Energy Weapon. You will be responsible for designing and developing new electronics from requirements analysis through to implementation and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with software, firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers to integrate real-world solutions on test systems.
  2. Develop new electronics through the full design lifecycle, including requirements definition, planning, and reporting progress to your team lead.
  3. Work closely with recognised industry experts to receive technical and personal developmental support in areas such as electro-optics and defence avionics.
  4. Take ownership of assigned electronics work packages, planning your work and delivering results within set timelines.
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering or related science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one aspect of electronics design, e.g., analogue, mixed-signal, digital, or power electronics.
  • Strong team-working and interpersonal skills, with experience coaching junior colleagues desirable.
  • Knowledge of developing electronics within a development process framework.

Location:

The primary location for this role is GB - Edinburgh, with additional locations in GB - Newcastle. This is a permanent position with a competitive salary, estimated to be around £60,000-£80,000 per annum depending on experience.
