Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team in addressing substance misuse issues. This role requires a first-level registered nurse with recent relevant post-qualification experience and a current PIN. About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking physical and mental health assessments, providing education, and promoting health among service users. They will also contribute to CGL's Naloxone Strategy by training staff and service users in its use and ensuring distribution of Naloxone kits. Additionally, they will ensure that procedures are reviewed to promote best practice and evidence-based care in accordance with UK guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake comprehensive health assessments for individuals accessing our services, identifying health issues and referring them to primary or secondary healthcare as needed.
  • Provide education, health promotion, and screening for blood-borne viruses, including Hepatitis B vaccinations when required.
  • Contribute to CGL's Naloxone Strategy by training staff and service users on Naloxone use and ensuring its distribution.
  • Develop strong therapeutic relationships with individuals with substance misuse problems and collaborate with them to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Ensure continuous review of procedures to promote best practice, aligned with UK guidelines, NICE guidance, and CGL clinical protocols.
Requirements
  • A first-level registered nurse with recent relevant post-qualification experience and a current PIN.
  • Relevant experience working within drug and alcohol treatment (desirable but not essential).
  • Sound knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion interventions.
  • Ability to assess and recovery plan service users, formulate written reports, and conduct clinical auditing.

  • Competitive salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
