Job Title: Heritage and Design Specialist

Charnwood Borough Council is seeking a dynamic and motivated Heritage and Design Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our planning department, you will play a crucial role in delivering an effective and efficient planning service by providing specialist advice on heritage and design matters.

About the Role

This is a career graded post that will enable the post holder to gain experience and career progression. At the top of the scale, the post holder will manage more complicated heritage and design issues. The post will therefore be suitable for someone who is looking to develop their skills in the fields of heritage and design, or for an experienced Planning Officer who is looking at taking the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice on heritage and design matters to support the delivery of an effective and efficient planning service.
  • Help guide planning policy relating to heritage and design matters.
  • Work with a variety of stakeholders to effectively achieve Charnwood's aims of supporting sustainable growth.
  • Manage a busy caseload of specialist heritage and design advice, and support development management to meet Government set targets for determination of applications.
