Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Medical Unit Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as experience working in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide administrative support: Greet visitors, direct personnel to various locations, and answer telephones using proper etiquette.
  2. Manage unit activities: Coordinate shift activities, prepare new admit packets, and maintain patient records.
  3. Support admissions process: Assemble new admit packets, obtain old medical records, and label patients' rooms according to unit protocol.
  4. Transcribe physician orders: Transcribe physician's orders accurately and enter ordered diets into the computer.
  5. Maintain accurate records: File all paperwork, including flow sheets, medication sheets, and blood bank forms.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required: Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Hospital experience necessary: Doctor's office or medical experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Meditech: Experience with Athena program a plus.
  • Certification/licensure not required: Training provided on unit with experienced preceptor.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
