Dean of the School of Applied Sciences

We are seeking a visionary leader to join our team as Dean of the School of Applied Sciences at the University of Brighton. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our institution and driving excellence in research and education.

The School of Applied Sciences is a thriving community of academics and researchers, specializing in biology, biomedical science, chemistry, ecology and conservation, geography, Earth, environment, and pharmacy. We are committed to tackling global problems using multidisciplinary approaches and are seeking a leader who shares our passion for innovation and collaboration.

As Dean, you will be responsible for leading our academic staff, developing and implementing our research strategy, and fostering partnerships with industry and other stakeholders. You will also be expected to contribute to the development of our curriculum and ensure that our programs are aligned with the needs of our students and the wider community.

We are looking for a leader who is not only an expert in their field but also has a proven track record of leadership, management, and collaboration. You will be a strong communicator, able to inspire and motivate our staff and students, and have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the higher education sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the School of Applied Sciences and develop a strategic plan to drive excellence in research and education
  • Develop and implement a research strategy that aligns with the University's research priorities
  • Foster partnerships with industry and other stakeholders to enhance our research and education programs
  • Contribute to the development of our curriculum and ensure that our programs are aligned with the needs of our students and the wider community
  • Lead and manage our academic staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their success

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Proven track record of leadership, management, and collaboration
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff and students
  • Deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the higher education sector
