Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Engineer to join our team at Reach plc. As a Shift Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes and maintaining the integrity of our equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe Systems and Operations: Observe, follow, and maintain the integrity of all safe systems across the site, adhering to safety instructions and protocols.
  • Improvement Engineering: Deliver improvement engineering through structured problem-solving techniques and the application of engineering technical knowledge.
  • Operator Support: Assist and support operators in undertaking low-level engineering tasks in a structured process.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to improve equipment performance and support production activities.
  • Engineering and Operations Support: Provide support to engineering and operations as directed, ensuring compliance with engineering visual standards and resolving breakdowns promptly.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct preventative maintenance in a prompt manner to minimize downtime and ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Training and Development: Complete all mandatory training requirements to enable a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any additional duties as requested by line management, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Level 3 (NVQ) engineering qualification in an appropriate electrical or mechanical discipline, or evidence of an appropriate, time-served apprenticeship in engineering.
  • Skills and Competencies: Ability to work within a flexible team and shift-based environment, multitask, and work to strict deadlines; awareness and use of continuous improvement tools and techniques; excellent communication skills; and IT literacy.
  • Experience: Experience as a shift-based engineer in a manufacturing environment, with a background in FMCG and flexibility to work across a 24/7 rotating shift pattern.
