SEN Teaching Assistant Role in Chorley

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Chorley. The successful candidate will work with pupils aged 2-19 who have a wide range of needs, including autism spectrum disorder, complex medical needs, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments.

The school provides a supportive and inclusive environment, with fantastic facilities to cater for the additional needs of our pupils. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching team to create engaging and inclusive lessons, and promoting independence and inclusion within the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans
  • Supporting pupils with their learning and personal care needs
  • Promoting independence and inclusion within the school community
  • Collaborating with the teaching team to create engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress

Requirements:

  • Experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Strong understanding of the individual needs associated with MLD, SLD, ASD, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's development
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualification, CACHE Level 2, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
  • Legal right to work in the UK
