Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Transcomm Recruitment. As a key member of our workshop, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and repair of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to the highest safety and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle Inspection and Repair: Perform detailed inspections of HGVs to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and conduct repairs on various vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brake systems, and other critical components.
  • Maintenance Schedules: Implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and enhance vehicle reliability.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the Workshop Controller and services team to explain repairs and maintenance needs.
  • Technical Skills: Maintain technical skills through ongoing training and certification programs, and keep abreast of the latest developments in HGV technology and repair techniques.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all repairs and maintenance work complies with safety regulations and company standards.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Must possess a mechanical or technician background in commercial vehicles, and either have experience of IRTEC, BTEC, or City & Guilds qualifications.
  • Experience: Must have managed technicians previously in a fast-paced workshop.
  • Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical repair skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, good communication and customer service skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
