Job Opportunity: Fire Alarm Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Engineer to join our team at Fortus Recruitment. As a Fire Alarm Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems in accordance with British Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain fire alarm systems, including analogue addressable and conventional systems
  • Carry out reactive repairs and maintenance of fire alarm systems
  • Conduct site surveys and asset verification
  • Install replacement/additional equipment
  • Participate in the on-call rota and respond to emergency callouts
  • Train apprentices and provide guidance on fire alarm systems
  • Service, maintain, and install fire alarm systems (BS5839-1) and emergency lighting systems
  • Complete engineer service reports and report deficiencies or deviations in systems
  • Conduct regular van stock checks and liaise with the Engineering Technical Supervisor and Procurement Department
  • Have a Health and Safety mindset and report any issues promptly

Requirements:

  • Good understanding of British Standards BS 5839 and BS 5266
  • FIA Level or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of industry experience
  • Attention to detail and ability to communicate on all levels
  • Able to work flexibly with a minimum of 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri, with opportunity to earn significantly more through weekends and participate in an out of hours call out rota
  • A full UK Driving License
  • Previous Fire Alarm Experience and knowledge of analogue addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
  • FIA training (or equivalent required) to BS5839-1 Fundamentals
  • A good level of IT literacy
  • An understanding of Health and Safety Regulations within the workplace
