Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment has partnered with a specialist metal stockholder to assist in their search for a Senior Transport Co-Ordinator on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all transport operations, including documenting goods in and out, administrative tasks, and coordinating transport schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely dispatch of outbound vehicles and track their journeys
  • Schedule transport and delivery routes, identifying trends to improve delivery efficiency and reduce issues
  • Maintain legal compliance by monitoring weight limits, driver hours, and tachographs
  • Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and defect reports to ensure smooth deliveries
  • Liaise with Operations and Admin departments
  • Troubleshoot processes, identify areas for improvement, and suggest solutions

Requirements:

  • Enthusiastic, focused, and ambitious individual with problem-solving skills and ability to improve processes
  • Experience using an in-house transport management system
  • Administrative experience in a Transport or Logistics role
  • Familiarity with transport legislation and logistical operations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with fluctuating workloads
  • Proficient in computer skills, particularly CRM systems
  • Full UK driving license
  • Flexibility to cover 6am-2:30pm shifts when required

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary between £25,000 and £27,000 depending on experience
  • Regular working hours (9am-5pm Monday-Thursday, 9am-2pm Friday)
  • Generous holiday entitlement (33 days + 8 bank holidays), increasing to 36 days after 5 years' service
