Job Summary

The Heart of Newhaven is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Officer to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the upkeep, maintenance, and repairs of our buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Management: Provide efficient and effective caretaking support, including security, upkeep, and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding grounds.
  • Event Management: Manage and organize the building for day-to-day use, as well as additional one-off and regular hires and events.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and implement safety procedures and management plans to ensure security of the building and the safety and wellbeing of its users.
Main Duties
  • Building Maintenance: Carry out basic maintenance throughout the Heart's buildings and grounds.
  • Contractor Management: Work with the Transition Manager to escalate and plan repairs and improvements to the Heart's buildings, instruct and manage contractors for both planned and reactive maintenance ensuring compliance with health & safety.
  • Cleaning and Storage: Maintain cleaning supply levels and the safe storage of cleaning products.
  • Training and Development: Attend relevant training as decided on by the Heart of Newhaven Community Board of Trustees.
Working Arrangements

This is a part-time position, working 16 hours per week. Some evening and/or weekend work will be required. The Heart operates a Time Off in Lieu system for staff working overtime in accordance with Heart of Newhaven Community policy.
