Job Title: Commis Waiter

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Commis Waiter to join our team at The Gherkin in London. As a Commis Waiter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our restaurant and events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the Back of House for service, including polishing plates, glassware, and cutlery.
  • Ensure your workstation is always clean and tidy.
  • Perform light cleaning duties towards the end of service.
  • Dispose of recyclables and various waste streams.
  • Deliver food and beverages to the restaurant for waiters to serve.
  • Prepare teas and coffees.
  • Relay tables for events and restaurant services.
  • Abide by company policies and departmental procedures/trainings.
  • Liaise with key personnel in all necessary areas of the business to ensure the provision of food and service is consistent and in line with menu/standards set by the managers.
  • Deal effectively and courteously with customer requests, and refer them to the line manager if necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative and Government guidelines, including The Food Safety Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, the COSHH regulations, etc. within the areas of responsibility.
Requirements:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Hands-on and proactive approach.
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Passion for food and beverage.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Strong organisational skills.
