Manufacturing Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our Metrology team at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement manufacturing methods and sequences to meet customer demands within required lead-time and cost.
  • Continuously improve manufacturing processes to reduce lead-time, cost, and non-conformance.
  • Operate manufacturing processes to deliver final products, exhibiting role model behaviors and practices for equipment operatives.
  • Manage technical projects from initial quote to delivered product.

Requirements:

  • Apprentice-trained or equivalent experience in creating manufacturing methods and sequences.
  • Ability to quote job requests for lead-time and cost.
  • Proficiency in creating Milling/turning CNC programs for components in 3/4/5 Axis.
  • Experience in resolving non-conformance to ensure in-specification products are delivered to customers.
  • Ability to work with customers to optimize product design (DfM) for optimum manufacturing methods.
  • Experience in optimizing current manufacturing capability to reduce waste, such as reduced tool wear or SMED.
  • Ability to develop and coach technicians in manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in operating manufacturing processes to deliver customer deliverables.
  • Ability to share lessons learned and best practices with engineering teams.

Essential Skills:

  • Programming of CNC machines – Milling/turning, 3,4,5-Axis.
  • Reading and understanding Engineering Drawings.
  • Fully confident with the programming of measurement systems (Renishaw probing).
  • Ability to use CAD software (Solidworks/NX or similar).
  • Ability to use CAM software (NX/HyperMill or similar).
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work within a team-focused environment.
  • HNC/HND/Degree qualified in an Engineering, Industrial or Manufacturing discipline.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in high precision machining environments such as aerospace, automotive, power and energy.
  • A track record of continuous improvement and project management.
  • Experience of developing and producing method of manufacture.
  • Data competent and able to manipulate data to explain a point of action.
