Dental Nurse Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Nurse to join our team at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a Dental Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality dental nursing care to patients, working closely with dentists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver clinical expertise in all aspects of the clinical setting, acting as a visible practitioner in the Department.
- Prepare and organise dental units for clinical procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver high standards of effective dental care, adhering to best practice guidelines.
- Participate in conscious sedation and other procedures under the supervision and direction of the Dentist.
- Monitor patients' physical signs prior to, during, and post-treatment, enabling early recognition of condition changes and ensuring appropriate corrective action is instituted.
- Provide four-handed dentistry throughout the patients' treatment, anticipating the clinicians' needs and any possible complications that may arise.
Requirements
- Recent experience of working as part of a dental team.
- Experience of a hospital setting.
- Knowledge of oral health promotion.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, and staff at all levels.
- Basic IT skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Registered Dental Nurse qualification or NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare.
- Must be registered with the General Dental Council as a Dental Care Professional.
- Any post-qualification certificate(s) in radiology, sedation, orthodontics, or oral health.
- Evidence of maintaining/updating relevant continued professional development with a personal development plan in accordance with enhanced CPD guidance.
