Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team at Textron Specialized Vehicles. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components that meet technical, performance, reliability, and cost targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain accurate and detailed designs, including drawings and Bill of Material records, consistent with the Engineering Change process.
  2. Perform analysis and calculations for mechanical system and component designs using computer-based analysis and simulation techniques such as FEA.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are robust and sufficient to meet reliability and durability targets.
  4. Prepare and deliver presentations demonstrating design concepts developed to meet design specifications and functional requirements.
  5. Participate in DFMEA & PFMEA reviews to ensure designs meet reliability and durability targets.
  6. Utilize best practice reference documents and standard in-house components where possible.
  7. Work with a cross-functional team to support the creation & updating of assembly instructions and Technical Publications.
  8. Read, understand, and incorporate requirements of standards and directives relevant to the product under development.
  9. Assist in the development of test regimes to validate design elements of a project.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering related field, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Strong knowledge of CAD (ideally UG NX) and FEA software (ideally ANSYS) required.
  3. Comfortable designing in a variety of materials including steels, plastics, and alloys.
  4. Able to demonstrate a hands-on approach working within a multi-disciplinary team to take design concepts through to medium volume production to meet challenging specifications and timescales.
  5. Self-motivated and able to work with low levels of supervision to defined objectives.
  6. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  7. Time management skills, ability to prioritise in a time-pressured environment and focus on delivery within tight deadlines.
  8. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  9. Initiative, innovation, and engineering enthusiasm.
  10. Can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
