Senior International Tax Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior International Tax Specialist to join our team at HMRC. As a key member of our tax compliance team, you will play a critical role in strengthening our efforts to close the tax gap and lead on risk assessment and enquiry work end-to-end.
About the RoleThis is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a deep understanding of international tax and OECD frameworks. You will work closely with our customer compliance managers, cross-tax regime technical specialists, policy, economists, and accountants to deliver high-quality tax compliance services to our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Lead on risk assessment and enquiry work end-to-end, working with complex customers and their representatives across a range of industries.
- Develop and implement effective tax compliance strategies to strengthen HMRC's efforts to close the tax gap.
- Provide technical leadership to a team of experienced International Tax Specialists and Corporation Tax Specialists, focusing on building their capabilities through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to the development of HMRC's international tax compliance strategy and influence policy decisions.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Significant recent experience in wider International Tax work in respect of multinationals in HMRC, industry, or in practice.
- Excellent understanding of international tax and OECD frameworks.
- Proven ability to successfully manage and lead complex enquiries or projects end-to-end.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) or an external equivalent qualification.
