London, Greater London, United Kingdom SLR Full time

About the Role

We are seeking an early-career professional with some experience to join our hydrology and hydrogeology team in London. This position is ideal for a proactive general hydrologist who can engage in fieldwork, conduct Flood Risk Assessments, formulate drainage strategies, and carry out other water-related studies and evaluations.

Our team works on a wide range of projects, including commercial and residential development, as well as industrial and energy initiatives. With a workforce of over 60 experts working at a national level, our hydrology and hydrogeology team provides water environment solutions across diverse sectors.

This position presents an opportunity to collaborate with professionals from various technical teams, including ESG, ecology, planning, and ESIA. At SLR, we foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages cross-team collaboration, unlocking compelling prospects within the broader organisation.

In addition to an attractive salary, the selected candidate will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including travel insurance, BUPA health coverage, and pension.

About You

  • You thrive in a team environment, balancing independent and co-dependent working.
  • You can draft technical reports and seek guidance as needed.
  • You are skilled at problem-solving in the field.
  • You have experience using software for drainage design, preferably in Flow Causeway.
  • You are professional and can communicate effectively.
  • You hold a Master's level qualification in hydrology, environmental engineering, or a similar field.
  • You hold a full, current driving licence valid in the UK and are comfortable driving for site visits.

If you don't meet every requirement but believe you are a good fit for this role, we encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and skills, and you may be the right fit for this position even if your experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification listed.

Working alongside Technical Directors, Principals, and Associates in hydrology and flood risk, the successful candidate will be required to prepare, organise, and undertake a range of tasks, including flood risk assessments, surface water drainage design, site walkover surveys, supervising site investigations, water quality monitoring, interpretation of monitoring data, preparing hydrological risk assessments, and chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports.

This role may involve projects and site investigations across the UK and internationally, and therefore may include infrequent periods of working away from home for several days at a time.
