Standards Design Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Standards Design Manager to join our team at NatWest Group. As a key member of our Financial Crime function, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing robust risk governance frameworks to mitigate financial crime risks.

Your primary responsibility will be to deliver a robust risk governance framework in line with the operational risk handbook and conduct and compliance handbook. You will also be responsible for delivering relevant specialist risk activity, building credible and realistic plans to move and sustain a control environment certification rating with risk appetite.

You will maintain and update standards in an agile way to respond to policy change, and internally initiated standards changes identified through thematic insights derived from BAU escalations, controls gaps or inadequacies, solution defects and changing risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing new standards, including creating strategic standards for all financial crime risk typologies for bank-wide operational execution and assurance across the three lines of defence, that mitigate risk efficiently and effectively.
  • Leading and inspiring a team of business and customer control partners to ensure team objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborating with business product owner teams to turn standards into artefacts for onward implementation into strategic solutions and operating procedures.
Requirements
  • Good working knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) processes, systems, controls, and operating model, as well as experience of reporting analysis to stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience of successfully engaging with stakeholders in order to successfully deliver initiatives.
  • Experience of managing change in an agile way, using a multidisciplinary team of expertise.
  • Knowledge of financial crime processes, systems, policies, and regulations across multiple disciplines, specializing in AML or counter-terrorism financing, politically exposed people and exits.
