Job Summary

Concrete Industries Inc is seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our team in the production of high-quality concrete blocks. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating machines to mix concrete and produce blocks according to specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and adjust machines to mix concrete and produce blocks according to specifications
  • Operate machines to split, cube, and package blocks according to specifications
  • Manually cube, split, and package blocks as needed
  • Inspect blocks and remove any that do not meet quality control standards
  • Perform adjustments and preventive maintenance on equipment as necessary
  • Rebuild mold boxes and other wearing parts
  • Assure safety devices are in proper working order, used, and in place
  • Perform job according to safety/environmental rules and regulations
  • Move blocks via forklift
  • Maintain the block area in a clean and orderly manner
  • Perform daily clean-up tasks to work area and equipment as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Previous experience in a block plant is helpful
  • Must have demonstrated mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical aptitude
  • Previous experience operating construction machinery or equipment (forklift, pallet loaders, lift truck, and front-end loader) is also helpful

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for prolonged periods; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, grasp, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

The employee is required to climb stairs and ladders, working at an elevation. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds to shoulder height and infrequent lifting up to 100 pounds. Must have agility to maintain balance on equipment or block piles. Must lift, place, and set block. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This is a non-smoking/vaping/chewing tobacco campus.

Condition of Employment

Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency, and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post-offer drug/alcohol testing with fit for employment screening (if required) are required as conditions of employment.
