Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sales Associate to join our team at Stakehill Nurseries in Manchester. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and contributing to the success of our plant nursery.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, and must be able to lift and move heavy items as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Process payments, issue receipts, and manage the cash register
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing enquiries and resolving issues promptly
  • Handle cash, credit card, and other payment methods securely
  • Assist with restocking shelves and monitoring inventory levels
  • Answer phone calls promptly and provide information or take orders over the phone
  • Open and close the shop

Shop Duties

  • Water plants regularly and ensure their optimal health
  • Deadhead flowers and remove weeds to maintain plant health and appearance
  • Assist with unloading and organising plant deliveries
  • Keep the shop floor, shelves, and display areas clean and tidy
  • Restock products and ensure they are properly priced and displayed

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organised office area
  • Oversee assistant employees to help with your tasks
  • Accept incoming deliveries on a weekly basis

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items as needed
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Basic knowledge of plants and gardening is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is £11.44 per hour. In addition to the competitive hourly rate, we offer a range of benefits, including 10% employee discount and opportunities for growth and advancement in the horticultural sector.

Work Schedule

We require the successful candidate to be available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends. The exact schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
