Job Title: HGV Hiab Driver

The OCU Group is seeking a skilled HGV Hiab Driver to join their team in Newbury. This role involves operating heavy goods vehicles to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently to designated destinations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate HGVs, including lorries, cranes, and trucks, to transport goods and materials between locations, following designated routes and schedules.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
  • Safely load and unload goods using appropriate equipment and securing methods, ensuring proper distribution of weight and balance.

Requirements:

  • Valid HGV Class C or Class CE driving license.
  • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification.
  • Previous experience as an HGV Hiab driver.
  • Good understanding of road safety regulations, vehicle maintenance, and safe driving practices.
  • Excellent navigational skills and the ability to read and interpret maps, GPS systems, and delivery instructions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.

Additional Requirements:

  • Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of long hours of driving and manual labor associated with loading and unloading goods.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as required by operational needs.
  • Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing as per company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service in all aspects of the job.
