About Our Educational Psychology Service

We are a dynamic and caring Educational Psychology Service (EPS) within Peterborough City Council, dedicated to providing high-quality support to children, young people, and their families.

Our team is well-regarded within the Local Authority and other stakeholders, and we are committed to building capacity in the service to meet demand and pioneer innovative practices.

We prioritize protected delivery of traded services for all non-statutory work and offer centralized traded training, providing a variety of work opportunities for our Educational Psychologists.

All our Educational Psychologists are involved in our accredited ELSA training or supervision program, for which we have been awarded the ELSA Quality Mark.

We have an established consultation model of service delivery that values the application of psychology, innovative practice, and professional integrity, providing variety in the work of our Educational Psychologists.

We prioritize continuous professional development to promote up-to-date professional practice of a high standard. We maintain strong links with universities and offer opportunities to develop a wide range of expertise across all our Educational Psychologists.

We work closely with our Trainees, an Assistant Educational Psychologist, and a Psychology Assistant to promote access to psychology across the city.

We have an open access service for parents/carers and young people, including bookable community consultations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Embracing our consultation service delivery model and contributing positively to the development of high-quality services.
  2. Developing and delivering training and supervision to school and setting staff, applying up-to-date theory and research.
  3. Effective communication, sound knowledge of current practice in Educational Psychology, and competence in delivering training to a wide range of audiences.
  4. Supporting schools to deliver the graduated approach for children, young people, and young adults with Special Educational Needs and others about whom there may be a concern.
