Job Title: Payment Systems Operations Specialist

Location: London-based, full-time for the initial 6 months, transitioning to a hybrid model (primarily office-based)

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience

Job Description:

  • Key Responsibilities:

As a Payment Systems Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for managing payment operations, optimising workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating fraud risks, and fostering partnerships with banks and payment providers. Your duties will include processing payments across systems (SEPA, SWIFT, FPS), reconciling transactions, and ensuring accuracy.

You will maintain compliance with FCA, PSD2, AML, and KYC regulations, supporting audit processes. In collaboration with IT teams, you will enhance payment systems and resolve technical issues. You will proactively detect and prevent fraud, monitoring risks and implementing mitigations.

In this role, you will establish and manage relationships with banks and payment providers, negotiate contracts, and handle escalated customer payment issues, ensuring resolution. You will also generate detailed payment reports and provide actionable insights for process improvement.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in payment operations within fintech or a payment institution.
  • In-depth understanding of UK/EU payment systems and FCA regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency in working with payment gateways, APIs, and fraud detection systems.
