Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Main Purpose of the Job:

The successful candidate will be part of the Cellular Genomics and Decoding Biodiversity Institute Strategic Programmes, working closely with external partners to investigate the genomic and cellular bases of adaptation to environmental challenges in vertebrate species.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the production and analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic data, including population and single-cell data.
  • Contribute to the analysis, preparation, and submission of associated manuscripts.
  • Collaborate with EI staff and outside partners to carry out necessary research to meet key deliverables for the project.
  • Act as a key technical resource, providing expertise and support to colleagues.

Person Profile:

Education & Qualifications:

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field.

Specialist Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, DNA/RNA sample preparation for NGS.
  • Comparative genomics analysis experience.
  • Transcriptomics, epigenomics, and genomics analysis experience.
  • Linux and shell scripting experience.
  • Programming skills in Python, Perl, or R.

Interpersonal & Communication Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Requirements:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel and work non-conventional hours.
