We are looking for a highly skilled Precision Turner Setter to join our team at GPW Recruitment in the Knutsford area. This is a permanent role with a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will have previous experience of programming and setting Fanuc controlled CNC milling machines or Heidenhain/Fanuc controlled CNC Turning machines. They will also have experience of using manual milling machines/lathes and ideally be time served or completed a relevant apprenticeship as a CNC/manual machinist.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and keen to succeed, with excellent communication skills and a practical approach to work. They will be able to work overtime with little notice and be flexible in their working hours.

Salary & Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary of £35,000-£40,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus 25% shift uplift when the role moves to a double days shift pattern. The basic working week is 40 hours/week (Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm) with possible overtime and a 20-day holiday allowance increasing by one day/year to a maximum of 25 days plus bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prioritise works orders received from the Cutting Room, ensuring that materials received are to specification.
  2. Identify and load the appropriate programme for the specific job, referring to the Pro-Engineer report.
  3. Manufacture components to production deadlines, operating CNC/manual machines safely and carrying out checks as required.
  4. Ensure that completed components are checked against specifications, de-burred, engraved, and blasted as required.
  5. Carry out weekly 5S audits on the area as requested by the Team Leader.
  6. Deal professionally with customers, suppliers, and colleagues in problems and offer advice with verbal and written communications.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience of programming and setting Fanuc controlled CNC milling machines or Heidenhain/Fanuc controlled CNC Turning machines.
  • Experience of using manual milling machines/lathes.
  • Time served or completed a relevant apprenticeship as a CNC/manual machinist.
  • Formal training in CNC setting and operation.
  • Highly motivated and keen to succeed.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Practical approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Programming experience.
  • Relevant qualifications in manual machining/CNC machining.
  • Previous experience of manufacturing stainless steel/aluminium parts.
  • Previous experience of using Hitachi Seiki HiCells C.N.C machines.
