At the Commonwealth of Virginia, we are seeking an exceptional Mathematics Professor to join our team at Richard Bland College of William & Mary. This permanent, nontenure track, full-time position offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development in a dynamic academic environment.
The primary role of this position is to provide college-level instruction and academic-related activities designed to encourage, support, and enable student success. In addition to teaching mathematics at all levels and supporting the development of stronger interdisciplinary ties with other departments, duties include student advising and committee service under our shared governance structure as part of the Department of Natural Science and Mathematics at the College.
About the Position
This faculty member will be responsible for:
- Teaching mathematics courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures;
- Preparing and submitting timely grade reports and other reports on student performance, as required;
- Organizing class activities and assignments, relating them to the overall learning outcomes of the courses;
- Providing input and working with other faculty and staff to review, produce, and/or select course-related materials.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must have:
- A Master of Science degree (or higher) in mathematics from a regionally accredited college or university; or a M.S. degree in a closely related field (such as computer science) with at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics;
- Extensive knowledge of the subject area(s) of instruction;
- Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and instruction;
- Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of first- and second-year college students;
- Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative style;
- An enthusiastic commitment to the Richard Bland College mission, vision, and strategic plan.
Salary Information
The estimated salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
