About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join our team at CareTech Group. As a key member of our social work team, you will be responsible for providing direct support to our foster families, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and national minimum standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in identifying and addressing the training and developmental needs of our foster carers, including delivering training to applicants, foster carers, and social workers.
- Lead on the recruitment of foster carers, conducting assessments, and supervising assessors to ensure timely decision-making.
- Monitor and coordinate pre-approval preparation for foster carers and their support persons, ensuring they are equipped to provide post-approval training.
- Develop and deliver 'Prepare to Care' training alongside the therapeutic social worker, analyzing needs and exploring topics with applicants undergoing assessment.
- Quality assure assessments and ensure they are panel-ready, completing pre-panel visits and post-approval carer inductions.
- Quality assure and sign off TSDS, acting as senior supervising social worker to a complex caseload of foster carers, providing support, guidance, and supervision to help them support the children in their care.
- Supervise up to two SSWs, including mentoring and quality assurance of Annual Reviews, as well as supervising the support worker.
- Lead on Foster Home Support meetings and review support meetings alongside the Therapeutic Social Worker and SSW, assisting in identifying and addressing the training and developmental needs of foster carers and delivering training as required.
- Supervise complex foster care placements, ensuring the welfare of children and young people is safeguarded, and their well-being and development are promoted.
- Work in partnership with local authorities to plan and review arrangements for children and young people, participating in placement planning meetings, PEPs, statutory reviews, and other required meetings.
- Liaise with local authorities to ensure compliance with guidance and regulations, monitoring the welfare of children and young people in placement.
- Liaise with other agencies on partnership working, working with local authority social workers, CareTech staff, and other professionals to maintain good professional standards in respect of foster care services.
- Apply professional knowledge and specialist skills in relation to looked-after children and foster care, providing consultation to other CareTech Group staff on the needs of looked-after children.
- Record accurate and adequate information about work undertaken, highlighting decisions made, and the aims and desired outcomes, compiling reports and statistical information in accordance with statutory and organisational requirements.
- Comply with CareTech Group's safeguarding and child protection procedures, being responsible for the organisation and planning of work as designated by line managers within agreed timescales.
- Undertake out-of-hours backup duties, completing notifications to Ofsted, and contributing to the development and evaluation of services provided by CareTech Group.

- Meet the requirements of The Data Protection Act 2018 regarding the use of recording, use, and safekeeping of personal information and data, complying with health and safety requirements concerning safe systems at work.
