About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Associate to join our team at Primary Care Careers. As a Physician Associate, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our primary care network.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care to patients, including clinical assessments, diagnoses, and treatment, under the supervision of a GP.
- Interview patients, take medical histories, perform physical examinations, analyze, diagnose, and explain medical problems.
- Work with the wider clinical team to deliver services that meet the needs of patients, which may include home visits.
- Consult and refer patients to physicians, medical specialists, and other health professionals.
- Recommend and explain appropriate diagnostic tests or treatments.
- Request and interpret results of laboratory investigations.
- Perform specialized diagnostic physical exams and treatment procedures.
- Instruct and educate patients in preventative healthcare.
- Conduct telephone consultations, which may involve discussing the results and implications of laboratory investigations with patients.
- Deal appropriately with routine and emergency complaints.
- Fully document all aspects of patient care.

Person Specification
- A postgraduate degree in Physician Associate Studies from an accredited PA program.
- Membership of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes UK Physician Associate Registration (the PA Managed Voluntary Register).
- Current and valid certification or re-certification by the UK Physician Associate National Examination.
- Experience in preventative medicine and chronic disease management.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to a varied and high-volume workload, with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- A consistently compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers, and colleagues.
- The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, nurses, other staff, and agencies.
- A commitment to continuing professional development.
