Isolation Planning Specialist

As an Isolation Planning Specialist at Network Rail, you will be responsible for producing and publishing isolation plans and associated documentation to meet stakeholder requests. These plans must comply with the applicable Electrified Lines Working Instructions and Network Rail standards. Your role will involve supporting the development and embedment of both long-term and short-term isolation strategies throughout the planning process.
About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and reviewing isolation plans and identifying work/possession proposals and opportunities in accordance with Electrified Lines Working Instructions and relevant planning standards & industry time scales.
- Maintaining records specific to the isolation planning process.
- Attending possession and isolation planning meetings, including producing, checking, validating publications and updates as necessary.
- Engaging with Route wide stakeholders and customers and supporting with the coordination of their isolation requirements.
- Assisting and supporting with the identification and implementation of quality and efficiency improvements.
- Maintaining isolation planning competencies and completing assessment arrangements as required.
- Reviewing any post-isolation delivery issues and understanding any learnings in the isolation planning process.

- Able to work under pressure.
- Able to evaluate complex factors and make decisions to maximise benefit.
- Able to prioritise and organise workload effectively to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Displays a good attention to detail.
- Displays good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Competent level of IT skills including use of Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel, and ability to work in other software packages.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
Desirable skills and qualifications include:
- Knowledge of the Electrified Lines Working Instructions and isolation planning standards.
- Knowledge of the isolation planning process.
- Knowledge of electrical feeding arrangements.
- Knowledge of Group Standards, Weekly Operation Notices, Electrical Diagrams & Instructions, and other relevant documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant railway geography.
- Knowledge of relevant train services and network capacity.
- Able to operate relevant planning systems.
- Knowledge of the process of taking and managing isolations.
