About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Director in Metabolic Medicine to join our team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing and developing essential clinical biochemistry services, including point-of-care devices, clinical advice and reviews, laboratory liaison work, authorisation of results, and liaison with other clinical services (ICU, medical and surgical teams).

The post holder will work on a 1:4 rotation with other Metabolic Medicine consultants based on the Charing Cross site, to provide laboratory out-of-hours cover.

This is a full-time position based at Charing Cross Hospital, with MDT and on-call activity across all 5 Northwest London Pathology (NWLP) sites.

Main Duties

  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to junior doctors and medical staff
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for clinical biochemistry services
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of patient care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audit projects
  • Contribute to research programs and projects, wherever possible

Requirements

  • Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview
  • UK trained applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
  • FRCPath or equivalent qualification required
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification required
  • Broad experience in Metabolic Medicine and Chemical Pathology
  • IT Skills and computer literacy
