This role requires strong practical, numerical, and team-working skills, which will be put to the test as you work on various technical activities to resolve problems and achieve positive outcomes. You will be expected to be proactive, spotting opportunities and sharing your expertise to benefit the team.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need good science A Levels or equivalent qualifications, and preferably higher educational qualifications or laboratory experience. For the Scientist level, a physics degree or equivalent qualifications is required.

  • You will be responsible for maintaining and developing national standards for temperature measurement and delivering customer calibration services with the highest quality.
  • You will combine calibration work with laboratory support duties such as managing an inventory of equipment.
  • NPL has leading capabilities to calibrate thermometers between -196°C and 3000°C, as well as expertise and novel techniques for solving real-world temperature and humidity measurement problems.
