Role Overview
LRQA is seeking a highly skilled Utility Sector Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Utilities team, you will be responsible for undertaking assessments against one or more of the Utility business sector schemes, including the Gas Industry Registration Scheme (GIRS) and the National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS).
Key Responsibilities:
- To perform complex on-site assessments within agreed broad parameters, including budget constraints and contractual requirements.
- To produce reports of assessments within agreed broad parameters in an appropriate format and take responsibility for reviewing and monitoring other employees' work as requested.
- To discuss/present the outcome of assessments with external clients at a senior level and suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
- To assess/recommend the time/value of work to be undertaken for external clients within an agreed fee/cost structure and within the commercial aspects of the contract, and issue quotations where necessary.
- To pursue Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- To conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
- To develop technically other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
- To contribute to internal/external client management as appropriate by acting as a point of contact to effectively manage client and LRQA relationships.
- To undertake project management where applicable, including monitoring project progress and spend against budget and contract requirements.
Requirements:
- To possess an appropriate qualification in the relevant utility sector to a minimum HNC level.
- To be a qualified member to at least Incorporated Engineer Status of a recognised institute (IET, IGEM).
- To possess sufficient appropriate working experience in a relevant industry to demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the specialist requirements, knowledge, and application.
- To be able to interact with all levels of staff within client organisations from Directors to site staff.
- To be able to represent LRQA at relevant national committees and conferences.
- To support Utilities Sector Manager and Business Development Manager in the development of new schemes and enhancement of existing schemes and provision of advice to the service delivery team.
- To have knowledge and experience to be able to undertake both office and site assessments on new connections across a range of voltage and/or pressure tiers.
- To be able to produce concise, accurate reports within required timescales.
