Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a School Kitchen Catering Assistant. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food and drinks to students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of food products, following specified menus and special dietary requirements
  • Set up and dismantle tables, chairs, bins, and water jugs for service periods within designated eating areas
  • Serve food, following specified portion control guidelines and special dietary requirements
  • Encourage customers to try a variety of food and seek feedback from pupils and teachers on products and service
  • Operate tills and Cashless card system, following strict guidelines
  • Wash up eating utensils and equipment, sterilizing where required, following set guidelines
  • Complete cleaning duties, following daily and weekly rotas, to ensure health and safety and hygiene standards are maintained
  • Put away daily/weekly/fortnightly deliveries, ensuring correct stock rotation and quality control guidelines are met
  • Receive deliveries, when directed by Catering Manager, carrying out quantity, temperature, and quality checks
  • Ensure health and safety and hygiene procedures are met, e.g. temperature probing and recording

Requirements

  • Ideal candidate will have a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, although training is available if necessary
  • Ability to work competently in a fast-paced, busy environment
  • High-quality standards of health, hygiene, and safety
  • Good communicative skills
  • A good team-player with the ability to show initiative
  • Customer-focused
  • A committed and flexible individual
  • Full, clean driving license
