Mental Health Support Assistant

A Mental Health Support Assistant will work closely with students who require additional support with processing their emotions and coping with challenging situations.

The role involves providing a safe and supportive environment for students to express themselves and work through their emotions, while also collaborating with the school's multi-disciplinary team to develop effective strategies for supporting students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students who are struggling with their mental health
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Collaborate with the school's mental health team to provide training and support to students and staff
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes emotional wellbeing

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students who have experienced trauma or adversity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Knowledge of mental health principles and practices
