Your new company, Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited, is delighted to be partnering with The University of Warwick (Warwick Business School) to recruit a Finance Business Partner to join their research division on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the production of detailed budgets for the school's research activities, ensuring accurate forecasting and monitoring of financial performance.
  • Prepare robust research income forecasts, identifying trends and variances to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Act as an advisor on financial matters for relevant school budget holders, providing guidance on financial regulations and best practices.
  • Support the Chief Finance Officer and Head of Finance in identifying and addressing major emergent issues related to research funding.
  • Collaborate with faculty to cost research grant bids, ensuring accuracy and adherence to funder rules.
  • Maintain and improve systems for recording and monitoring research activities, enabling accurate forecasting and revenue management.
  • Provide professional supervision of the financial administration role of Research Activity support staff, ensuring correct procedures and processes are followed.
  • Engage with University and school working groups, analyzing information and providing briefings and recommendations to inform decision-making.
  • Maximize the use of SAP to improve the efficiency and flow of financial information.

Requirements:

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA Qualified Accountant
  • Extensive financial management experience, with a focus on budgeting and monitoring complex activities
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and variances
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advise and guide budget holders
  • Strong management accounting and project accounting experience
