Job Overview

This exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Powertrain Systems Integration Specialist to join our team in Birmingham. As a key member of our powertrain calibration team, you will be responsible for supporting the integration of complex powertrain systems, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and driveability.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Task Planning and Delivery: Plan and deliver powertrain calibrations across all software areas, including calibration version management and adhering to CAUK quality processes.
  2. Powertrain Integration Support: Provide support to other teams/ departments with powertrain integration tasks.
  3. System Optimisation: Collaborate with control and software engineers to optimise overall system performance and hybrid controllers.
  4. Vehicle Calibration Activities: Support vehicle powertrain calibration activities and dyno testing.
  5. Documentation and Reporting: Document and report calibration activities, including technical presentations to peers and management.
  6. Calibration Trips: Participate in calibration trips in Europe and China for environment calibration tests.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electronics Engineering or Equivalent: A degree in a relevant field, such as mechanical or electronics engineering, or an equivalent education.
  • Experience in Powertrain Calibration: 5 years of post-graduate experience in powertrain calibration with OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
  • Production-Level Knowledge: Production-level knowledge of developing and calibrating hybrid powertrain systems, including energy management, automatic transmission control (TCU), engine control (EMS), and vehicle systems (ABS/ESP).
  • Calibration Processes and Methodologies: Knowledge and competences in terms of calibration processes and methodologies.
  • Software Strategies and Specifications: Understanding of software strategies and specifications, familiar with MATLAB Simulink format.
  • Vehicle Control Algorithms: Experience in developing vehicle and powertrain control algorithms.
  • Automotive Calibration Tools: Expert working knowledge of automotive calibration tools (ETAS INCA/MDA preferred).
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to overcome cultural barriers.

Package Details

The competitive salary package includes a negotiable base salary, dependent on experience and qualifications, ranging from £70,000 to £100,000 per annum, plus additional benefits and allowances.
