Maintenance Fitter Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join our client in South Ayrshire on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will report to the Maintenance Manager and work closely with the existing maintenance team to maintain the plant, minimize plant downtime, and maximize plant throughput.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Responding to plant downtime to ensure maximum throughput
  • Repairing and replacing damaged equipment
  • Utilizing IT systems to record work completed
  • Interrogating, fault finding, and resolving problems on company equipment
  • Active participation in and close out of assigned tasks associated with summer and winter overhauls
  • Repairing and overhauling plant and equipment as required
  • Completion of work permits as required and adherence to health and safety standards
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels
  • Participation in special projects as required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Fully qualified fitter experience in a factory environment
  • Relevant experience in a heavy mechanical facility
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and concern for standards with a keen results orientation
  • Flexibility to cover a 25/5 and/or 24/7 shift pattern
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work in teams and interact with production/maintenance colleagues and managers
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to take and respond to direction
  • Self-motivated individual with strong customer focus and ability to work independently

This role involves working a 3-shift pattern and a 4-on, 4-off schedule.
