Job Description

GSK is seeking a highly skilled Site Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our R&D sites, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a culture that prioritizes safe working practices, environmental protection, and a healthy workforce.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety, with experience in gas cylinder management and laboratory safety. You will work closely with our operations teams, service partners, and contractors to ensure that safe systems of work are in place and effective.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing management oversight of maintenance, operations, construction, and engineering work activities across R&D sites.
  • Monitoring and reviewing service partner and contractor project and task-specific risk assessments and method statements.
  • Overseeing non-routine high-risk work activities performed by service partners and third-party contractors.
  • Identifying and assessing safety information needs for service partner employees, third-party contractors, and visitors.
  • Investigating adverse safety events and ensuring immediate corrective actions are taken.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, or Engineering.
  • NEBOSH National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Professionals or equivalent.
  • Broad experience in health and safety within a pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or regulated industry.
  • Broad working knowledge of gas cylinder management and laboratory safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership of a professional organization, e.g., IOSH Certified Member.
  • Knowledge of the Research & Development process and GxP requirements.
