Job Title: Geo-environmental Consultant/Hydrogeologist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geo-environmental Consultant/Hydrogeologist to join our Sustainable Land and Resource Management Practice in our Birmingham office.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be part of an innovative and technically excellent team, helping to deliver projects to a number of the largest UK-based and international infrastructure projects, including nuclear new-build. The role will involve working on land contamination, hydrogeology, and brownfield redevelopment projects, as well as providing innovative solutions to engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implementation of Phase 2 site investigations, including site-based work such as contractor supervision, soil sampling, and ground gas/vapour/leachate/groundwater and surface water monitoring/sampling.
  • Compliance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, including preparation of H&S plans for site investigation and managing health and safety on site.
  • Preparation of relevant Environmental Impact Assessment chapters.
  • Developing own competence and maintaining CPD necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the role, with support from the business on own training and development needs.
  • Management of own work, including supporting senior management to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on budget, and to quality and client expectations.
Requirements:
  • Higher education qualification in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology, geography, hydrogeology, chemistry, earth sciences, environmental science).
  • Willingness to travel and undertake site-based work across the UK.
Desirable:
  • Experience in working with geospatial data (GIS) using software such as QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
  • Ideally, you will have experience managing data on large projects, especially GIS data and AGS data.
  • Experience in site-based work, including supervision of trial pitting, drilling, and undertaking gas/vapour/leachate/groundwater and surface water monitoring/sampling.
