This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our business. As a Fleet Supply Chain and Warranty Engineer, you'll play a key part in managing the component warranty process by representing Siemens in engineering investigations with suppliers, ensuring the enforcement of warranty claims through technical and engineering expertise.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of railway maintenance techniques and procedures, as well as the ability to interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, systematic fault finding, and problem identification.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Proactively address quality concerns and repair issues with suppliers to ensure timely and effective preventive measures, maintaining high reliability and quality standards.
- Lead or support technical investigations to assist Siemens Mobility in managing warranty claims.
- Communicate fault and liability details to suppliers to secure robust interim and permanent corrective actions, aiming to prevent warranty issues and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with the broader team to address specific warranty and technical challenges, enhancing fleet reliability.
- Ensure VMI and other maintenance documents for rolling stock are updated based on lessons learned from warranty outcomes.
- Work with the engineering team to standardize processes and share best practices for continuous improvement.
- Conduct and manage joint investigations with relevant parties concerning fleet issues as needed.
- Provide engineering support to resolve warranty disputes with suppliers.
- Coordinate and advise on warranty matters, monitor warranty costs, and recommend process changes to prevent recurrence.
- Develop reports to track the status of warranty issues and identify significant trends.
- Offer engineering input on supply chain cost-saving initiatives and the localization of repairs.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A HND/HNC/BTEC/CTEC qualification or higher in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience within a railway or rolling stock environment.
- A comprehensive understanding of railway maintenance techniques and procedures.
- Proficient in interpreting mechanical/electrical drawings, systematic fault finding, and problem identification.
- The ability to work independently, with clear targets and deliverables to achieve project objectives.
- Experience in customer and supplier relations.
- Proficient in IT systems and software applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service abilities.
It's advantageous to have:
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Excellent analytical abilities, with a strategic mindset and effective problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in using analytical techniques such as 5 Whys, SWOT analysis, and Design Thinking.
- Proven ability to provide leadership within a matrix organizational structure.
